Los Alamitos police blotter, March 6 to March 11

March 6, 2013

POLICE INFORMATION – 10:17am – Katella/Los Alamitos - The caller’s Ford Ranger hit a small white sedan while pulling out into eastbound traffic from the McDonald’s parking lot. The caller pulled over onto a small side street to exchange information, however the other party continued.
TRANSIENT – 3:48pm – Katella/Walnut - A transient at the intersection was causing a traffic hazard, asking motorists for money. Party advised and will comply.

March 7, 2013

EXTRA PATROL CHECK – 6:52pm – Green/Los Alamitos - The prior Sunday, the caller’s daughter was approached by a male transient on a bicycle and asked her what the time was. It made her very uncomfortable. The caller advised they just saw him again walk into the driveway.
WELFARE CHECK – 7:10pm – 4400 block of Green Ave. - The caller was going through a custody battle with her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend for the child and was concerned that the child was going to be punished because she said something to the caller about the boyfriend driving her around with a suspended license. Counseled.

March 8, 2013

SUSPICIOUS PERSON – 4:21pm – 3500 block of Katella Ave. - A male subject was sitting in the lobby trying to use a fake ID and get cash out of the account. The subject had the correct PIN and the name on the ID card matched the account information. Police contacted the subject and determined that only the ID was fake and it was the subject’s account.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES – 9:00pm – 3600 block of Thor Ave. - The caller was home with her children and thought she heard a subject turn on the hose in her backyard. The caller was asked to stay inside the residence while police checked the yard. The yard checked okay and police were unable to locate the subject.

March 9, 2013

PEDESTRIAN CHECK – 12:12pm – Cerritos/Los Alamitos - Two students were cited for vehicle code violations and one student in possession of cigarettes was also cited. The subjects were released to the assistant principal.
FRAUD REPORT – 6:49pm – 3900 block of Farquhar Ave. - The caller replied to a CraigsList ad for a possible job. The caller mailed $700 via Money Gram to Las Vegas. The caller received a check for $1250 from the CraigsList suspect. The check was supposed to cover the $700 he mailed and pay him $500. The check bounced. Report taken.

March 10, 2013

SUSPICIOUS PERSON – 3:01pm – 12000 block of Paseo Bonita - Two subjects were going door to door selling magazine subscriptions. The caller was concerned that she advised the subjects she couldn’t purchase anything. The subjects were advised regarding Los Alamitos Municipal Code violations.
ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING – 6:43pm – 3200 block of Katella Ave. - The reporting party’s daughter was approached by a subject in a vehicle on her way home from school. The subject told her she had beautiful hair. The subject kept following her on her way home and honking his horn and asking for her phone number. Report taken.

March 11, 2013

CITIZEN ASSIST – 3:40pm – 3500 block of Green Ave. - A large white moving truck was double parked, blocking the caller and two other vehicles from leaving. The truck finally moved a little so the caller could get out. The caller had to get into an argument with the driver to get him to move. The caller wanted him counseled as the subject was still double parked. Party advised and will comply.
CITIZEN ASSIST – 8:53pm – 3600 block of Cerritos Ave. - The caller parked her white Nissan inside the location and the gate closed and locked and she couldn’t get out. Subject counseled. Matter solved.
