Cypress police blotter, May 16 to May 22

May 16, 2013

WATER PROBLEM – 3:32pm – 5000 block of Laurel Ave. - Water was running down the driveway and another neighbor noticed the backyard was flooded. According to the caller, the residents moved out a couple weeks prior. A water hose was left on in the swimming pool. The pool cleaners had been seen at the residence earlier that day. The water was shut off, and there was no suspicious activity.
HIT AND RUN – 7:46pm – Knott/Katella - A driver hit a bicyclist. The bicyclist was standing, but the bike had a lot of damage. The female driver didn’t stop to check on the bicyclist. She appeared to be upset with the rider, as if he had done something wrong. According to the caller, the bicyclist had the green light. The vehicle and driver were located. No injuries occurred, and all parties were counseled.

DISTURBANCE (Subject) – 9:49am – 6300 block of Lincoln Ave. - Ongoing problem with a male subject loitering in the parking lot. That day, the subject was wearing all purple and dancing around near the median. The caller was afraid of the subject because he was told by a long-time customer that the subject had affiliations to a Peruvian gang. The disruptive subject checked okay and was sent on his way.
FOUND PROPERTY – 2:06pm – 4400 block of Lincoln Ave. - Security at the location found possible stolen property dumped there, including a large amount of jewelry and watches, jewelry boxes, two purses, and a small “Brinks” safe. Report taken.

May 18, 2013

FOUND PROPERTY – 3:47pm – 5900 block of Cathy Ave. - A green backpack was found on the fence at the park near the school. Report taken.
WELFARE CHECK – 6:23pm – 5400 block of Katella Ave. - An elderly female in a motorized cart appeared to be passed out. The female checked okay, and no medical attention was needed.

May 19, 2013

STRAY ANIMAL – 12:13am – 4400 block of Larwin Ave. - Two large dogs got out from the neighbor’s house and were in the caller’s garage and the caller could not get out of the vehicle. The dogs were barking at the caller and the caller was afraid they were vicious. One dog was returned to the backyard, the other left the area. Police advised Animal Control regarding possible neglect at the location, as there was nothing in the yard for shelter and no food or water.
DISTURBANCE – 3:59am – 9000 block of Bloomfield - An uncooperative female was refusing to leave the location. She was upset over her 19-year-old daughter staying there. All parties were counseled, and the female subject left.

May 20, 2013

COUNSELING – 9:30am – 9200 block of Denni - A third-grader was in the principal’s office, refusing to go back to class and stating he would take off if they tried to make him. The child was advised regarding the importance of a well-rounded education, which included actually being in school to get same.
DISTURBANCE (Family) – 7:04pm – Undisclosed location - The caller’s daughter was truant from school that day and the previous week. The daughter stated she wanted to do some crystal meth and heroin. The female was known to use drugs and drink alcohol. Report taken.

May 21, 2013

POLICE INFORMATION – 8:14pm – 5000 block of New York Ave. - The caller’s neighbor witnessed the mailman mace his dogs. The caller was advised to contact the United States Postal Service and call back if he desired a report.
HAZARD – 10:25pm – 10300 block of Angela Ave. - A city light pole fell and was on the street blocking traffic lanes, with exposed wires. It appeared that the pole had rotted out. Public Works and Southern California Edison were requested to respond, as well as the CSI. Report taken.

May 22, 2013

COUNSELING – 3:29pm – 5000 block of New York Ave. - Police responded to the residence the day before regarding a mailman spraying the dogs with pepper spray. The caller found a note in his mailbox from the mailman saying that he was sorry for what he did. The caller would like to show it to the officer for proof that the subject did spray his dogs. Counseled.
DISTURBANCE (Noise) – 8:38pm – 5600 block of Lincoln Ave. - Three or four 8-10-year-old subjects near one of the rooms were making a lot of noise. Police determined that playing children accidentally broke the glass case to the motel fire extinguisher. The mother in the room was advised and would handle the matter.
