The following information was released by Cypress Police Department.

On April 29, at approximately 10:23 a.m., a Cypress Patrol Officer attempted to stop a vehicle that was leaving the parking lot of the Cypress Suites Motel at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle in question made two quick turns and drove down a cul-de-sac located near Via Arroyo and Holder in an apparent attempt to elude the officer.

As the vehicle came to a stop, the driver jumped out and fled the scene on foot. A female passenger remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody moments later without incident.

After a brief search of the surrounding neighborhood, the driver who fled the vehicle was located walking on the sidewalk a few blocks away. He also was taken into custody without incident.

During the ensuing investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was a reported stolen vehicle out of the City of Whittier.

The driver, who was identified as Joshua Ambrose (D.O.B. 8-19-82) was placed under arrest for violation of P.C. 496 – Possession of Stolen Property, P.C. 148(a) – Resisting Arrest, P.C. 466 – Possession of Burglary Tools, and an outstanding arrest warrant. He was also found to be on Post Release Community Supervision.

The female passenger, who was identified as Trisha Vanarsdall (4-2-87), was also placed under arrest for P.C. 496 – Possession of Stolen Property, and P.C. 466 – Possession of Burglary Tools.

Both suspects were booked at the Orange County Jail.
